About BESA

At the British Embassy School Ankara (BESA), we provide a rich and well-rounded education for students aged 3 to 16. We follow the National Curriculum of England, enriched by the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) for the first three years of Secondary education. As a Cambridge-affiliated school, we offer the internationally recognised iGCSE qualifications in Years 10 and 11, preparing students for success beyond their time with us.

BESA is a co-educational and inclusive school with approximately 220 students from over 30 countries, creating a vibrant and diverse community. Known for our friendly and nurturing environment, we emphasise a holistic approach to education, fostering not only academic excellence but also the personal and social development of every student. We are committed to promoting British Values and follow the UK’s guidelines for Personal, Social, and Health Education.

We believe that all students deserve an education that meets their individual needs and challenges them to achieve their personal best. To support this, we offer a range of tailored resources and programs for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that they receive the support necessary to thrive. Additionally, our curriculum and teaching approaches are designed to challenge and extend our more able students, providing opportunities for enrichment and deeper learning to stimulate their growth and development.

We strive to provide learning experiences that inspire high expectations and build self-confidence, balancing academic rigor with creativity. At BESA, students develop as independent, critical thinkers within a supportive and structured framework.
