At BESA, we are privileged to have a full-time Qualified Nurse as an integral part of our Pastoral Care team. Our dedicated School Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students, providing immediate care for any child who becomes unwell at school or requires additional medical attention.

Upon admission, parents complete medical forms that provide crucial information about their child’s health history. Our Nurse meticulously collates this information and ensures that any relevant health issues are communicated to your child’s teachers, fostering a supportive and informed learning environment. She also oversees that all students receive the required immunisations to attend BESA, keeping their vaccination records up to date and compliant with health regulations.

For students with specific health needs, our Nurse develops individualised care plans tailored to their unique requirements. These plans outline the necessary steps for managing their conditions and ensure that every child receives the appropriate care and support they need during school hours. If training is necessary for school staff regarding your child’s medical condition, our Nurse coordinates this training to ensure that everyone involved is well-prepared.

The School Nurse is also a valuable resource for parents facing common childhood health issues, such as bedwetting or head lice. She provides guidance, resources, and support for these concerns, helping families navigate challenges effectively. Additionally, she offers advice on various health-related topics, promoting overall wellness within the school community.

Promoting a culture of health and well-being, our Nurse regularly conducts initiatives focused on healthy eating, personal hygiene, sun safety, and other important health topics. Through workshops, informational sessions, and engaging activities, she educates students about the significance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, empowering them to make informed choices.

In addition to her nursing responsibilities, our Nurse is a qualified First Aid instructor. She conducts training courses for staff and after-school clubs, ensuring that everyone is equipped with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in emergency situations. This training is crucial for creating a safe and responsive environment for all students.
