Primary Education at BESA
The Primary department at BESA encompasses Years 1 through 6, catering to children aged 5 to 11 years. Our curriculum is designed to provide a robust educational foundation that nurtures each child’s academic and personal growth.
We adhere to the National Curriculum for England and Wales across all subjects, enriched by our commitment to fostering an International Mindedness and instilling British Values. This dual approach not only prepares students for the academic challenges ahead but also helps them develop a global perspective and an understanding of diverse cultures.
In our Primary department, we adopt an integrated approach to learning through our Literacy Tree curriculum. This innovative framework links topics within the foundation subjects to literature being studied in English. By connecting subjects in this way, we create a stimulating learning environment that encourages children to engage with new ideas and concepts, promoting a natural enthusiasm for independent exploration.
As students progress through their Primary years, we cultivate an expectation of increased autonomy and independence. Our educators gently guide children to accept greater responsibility for their learning, encouraging the development of leadership skills. This growth is reflected in their work habits, organisational skills, behaviour, self-discipline, and relationships with peers and staff.
We believe that every achievement, no matter how small, deserves recognition. Thus, we encourage our students to take pride in their accomplishments and to adopt a self-reliant approach to their education. Special emphasis is placed on the social and emotional development of each child, ensuring that they develop resilience, empathy, and the ability to navigate interpersonal relationships effectively.
Additionally, we offer a range of extracurricular activities designed to complement the academic curriculum, providing opportunities for students to explore their interests and talents outside the classroom. This holistic approach to education ensures that our students are well-rounded individuals who are prepared to face the challenges of the future with confidence.
At BESA, we are dedicated to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We work collaboratively with parents to support each child’s development and celebrate their unique contributions to our school community.
