Health And Wellbeing
Health and Wellbeing at BESA
At BESA, we take great pride in nurturing students who are both physically and mentally prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We believe that fostering a holistic approach to health and wellbeing is essential for empowering our students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
In our Primary department, we implement the Jigsaw Personal, Social, and Health Education (PSHE) curriculum. This innovative program encourages open discussion and understanding of various vital health topics, including emotional literacy, mental health awareness, and online safety. Through engaging activities and interactive lessons, students learn to recognise their feelings, build resilience, and develop healthy relationships with their peers. The curriculum is designed to create a safe space where children feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring the importance of wellbeing in their lives.
As students progress into the Secondary department, we continue to prioritise their health and wellbeing by utilising resources from the PSHE Association. Our Form time sessions provide a structured environment where students engage in meaningful discussions about essential life skills, such as financial management, career planning, and online safety. These sessions equip students with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the complexities of adolescence and prepare for the future.
An important aspect of our PSHE curriculum is Relationship and Sex Education (RSE), which is thoughtfully integrated into our lessons. We approach RSE with sensitivity and care, ensuring that students receive accurate information while encouraging respectful conversations about relationships, consent, and personal boundaries. By fostering an open dialogue, we aim to empower our students to make informed choices and develop healthy relationships.
In addition to our structured curriculum, BESA promotes physical health through a variety of initiatives. We offer regular physical education classes that focus on developing fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Furthermore, our commitment to health extends beyond the classroom, as we organise events such as mental health awareness weeks, wellness workshops, and activities that encourage a balanced lifestyle.
At BESA, we recognise that health and wellbeing are foundational to academic success and personal growth. Our dedicated staff members work collaboratively to create a supportive and nurturing environment, ensuring that every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential. By prioritising health and wellbeing, we equip our students with the skills and mindset they need to flourish in an ever-changing world.
